Slip Down a Freshly Shucked Oyster

Greenwell Point, 13 kilometres north-east of Nowra, is famous for having some of the biggest and best oysters on the South Coast. You can try the oysters direct from the growers on the riverbank at Greenwell Point from Kingtide Oysters, Shoalhaven Oyster Service, Jim Wild’s Oyster Service, Newnham Oysters and Comerong Bay Oysters.

Garden Fresh Fruits & Vegetables

A visit to Smadimi Estate, in Terara, 3 kilometres east of Nowra is a must do. The owner, Michael is a passionate ‘backyard grower’ and supplies his fruit and vegetables to locals through his farm gate. He has all sorts of produce, ranging from the everyday, to the exotic and experimental. He also has a small-scale vineyard and has bees that make the most delicious honey.

Say Cheese!!

The Schoolhouse Cheesery and Foxground Handmade Tea is located at the recently renovated, old Toolijooa schoolhouse building in Gerringong. It is the home of ‘The Schoolhouse’ cheesemaking, as well as tea processing for Foxground Handmade Tea, from their tea farm near Berry. They offer cheeses, teas, locally roasted coffee and home-cooked treats.

Wine Tasting

The boutique winery and vineyard called Two Figs is located 12km from Berry, at the top of one of Mount Coolangatta’s foothills overlooking the Shoalhaven River. The Winery produces fine wines including cabernet sauvignon, chardonnay, chambourcin and verdelho.

Two Figs Cellar door opens daily from 11am – 5pm for wine tasting and wine sales.

The Shoalhaven Visitors Centre in Nowra also stocks a great selection of local produce including amazing gourmet preserves, relishes and chutneys, all made with love in the region.
